I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY BATTERY-OPERATED PORTABLE RADIOS WERE AROUND AT THE TIME, BUT ONE CAN LISTEN CAREFULLY AND IMAGINE THAT THE SOUNDS OF GLENN MILLER, THE AMES BROTHERS AND FRANK SINATRA WERE AUDIBLE ABOVE THE SOUND OF THE SURF AND THE GLEEFUL LAUGHTER AND CONVERSATION OF A GENERATION WHICH WOULD SO APTLY BE NAMED THE GREATEST GENERATION.
